Captains Retreat is one of the areas oldest remaining historic homes. Built close to the edge of the Bay by one of our famous Sea Captains, Captain Deane, the home enjoys history, views and location. Hal Porter, who wrote The Paper Chase whilst resident, is just one part of the history of this unique home. Built in1862,Captains Retreat was once home to Captain James Deane a wealthy tug boat operator. Captain Deane set the standard for comfort and luxury in this historical home, a standard which has been retained for your enjoyment today.
